Anyone know of any special modes and pids that are specific to BMW rather than just the standard ones.

Think this'll be one of those threads that die a death :) but worth a try I guess to find the most switched on BMW owner.

Am i barking up the wrong tree if i point you in the direction of the makers of VAG-COM, who are developing a similar system for BMWs at the moment?

Inope, but I believe vag-com is a fairly basic look at the obd codes. Carsoft would be much closer software.

But I am looking for the code definitions rather than a turnkey written piece of software

And bump, am a little dissapointed and surprised this type of thread seems to get lost and ignored amongst the 'wot colours my car' threads.

I believe half the car problems on this thread could be sorted without resort to the dealers if this information was more widely known.

I would suggest you go to one of the more dedicated BMW forums.

If it is any help, on www.rs246.com ,,, there are many posts where experts translate codes from VAG.com.

It's pretty much a complete replica of the VW diagnostic tools. Can set all parameters on the ECU.

Everything i know about audi codes has been gleaned from some hardcore googling (usually late at night, but that's not important right now).

But (correct me if I have this wrong) Vag-COM is not compatible with BMW, and the codes don't translate to DS2.
