Picked up my then three months old G45 X3 2.0 petrol from a Dealership in Surrey all as been well and I love the car, but after two weeks l could here a faint knocking sound like poppleing if that makes sense, seems to be right across the front axle, best heard around 7mph. There are no warning lights faults etc at all. We were going away so booked it into my local dealer who look after my cars, for it to be assessed when I returned after two weeks, so it’s only been driven by me for 2 weeks and 400 miles. Total mileage to date 3250.

So the car went in on yesterday, straight away the Tec acknowledged there is a problem
, but with only 3 hours on the day he was left stumped. So now they suggest due to it being a new model they have to strip down the front suspension etc and any other components they think could be at fault.

Not happy with this but I suppose I will have to let the dealership go through the motions, and see what the outcome is before I can reject or whatever. £53k of my retirement funds I ain’t happy.

What do the collective think

It’s going in on Monday, the service manager said it will be Enterprise and it will be a BMW, all I can say it had better be or BMW and Enterprise had better look out

Not REALLY sure if under the circumstances you can actually specify/get uppity if it isn't but it sounds like they are doing what they can.

I thought the dealer would just loan you one of their cars to be honest. I was given one of my dealers cars when the X5 40d went in recently for some warranty work for example.

Did not have to worry on the loan car from Enterprise they sorted me a iX for two days then replaced it with a few months old 3 series 2.0i

They have found out it’s the tie rods on both sides, they are on back order so 10 days before I get the car back. I have no other information other than that. I may find out more when I pick it up.

They should be giving you a free boot liner for the car.
