Elecronic handbrake

Just had my local garage fit a new electronic handbrake and they can`t get it to work.
It was bought off ebay so that is probably my mistake.
Should these aftermarket ones be OK?
Even tried a new switch
Still no go.
Am I going to have to bite the bullet and go to a dealer.

Have you researched if it needs to be coded to the car?

By "electronic handbrake" what exactly do you mean?

Centre console switch, calliper, control unit?

All would require a different answer.

Also, why did you supply yourself, it is inevitably a potential nightmare as to who is now liable & who pays for the work & also the added remedial work?

Local BMW specialist coded it and replaced a fuse for £126
Working fine now.
So in the end I saved £500 against taking it to a dealer.
