Hi all,

Total newbie here so would really appreciate some help.

Yesterday after driving my 525d from cold, 5 minutes in i thought I had driven over a branch stick, but the noise actually came from the engine/gearbox. I instantly lost drive and slowly crawled to a stop. No drive no reverse and a loud clicking noise when selecting park.

(I’ve linked a video of the car selecting drive and reverse and the clicking noise when selecting park)

Any ideas on what the issue could be? Or has anyone else had a similar experience.

Thanks in advance

Rowe

The gearbox sounds like it’s working fine.

Sounds like your prop bolts have fallen out. Thus the gearbox is spinning as intended, and you’re just banging it straight into park and trying to engage the pawl (I would advise to stop doing that).

Hi,

Thanks for the info. Is this something a standard garage could fix for me?

Thanks

Do you think? Won’t it be out of alignment? What’s the second part #127995? Doesn’t come up when I search the web?

Just push it back into position and tighten the bolts which haven’t fallen out.
(Then go buy more bolts)
