My iX3 is 3 years old in a couple of weeks so I got a quote to extend the warranty.

With a £250 excess it’s £359 without the roadside assistance and £447 with. It’s £752 with no excess.

Does this seem like good value? I feel it’s a little pricey considering there’s no engine and gearbox, and the EV drivetrain is covered by a separate 8 year warranty.

What sort of price did people get on a petrol/diesel BMW for year 4?

My wife has a 67 plate 2.0 petrol X1 66500 miles

Renewal quote is just over £600, thats comprensive warranty, roadside assistance and £250 excess

Its jumped up £200 since last year as a result of now being over 60000 miles.

My G30 2.0 diesel X drive was just over £700

Cheers - compared to that yours mine does seem quite pricey - basically the same price you paid for the diesel last year. I’m wondering if the BMW system doesn’t take into account the fact there’s no engine and gearbox. It’s just a price based on class of car?

£250 excess and £359 is EXACTLY what mine is for this year on an 8 year old F30 335d xdrive. It has been the same for each year after the three year warranty (yes, I could have put the money aside, etc. etc.)

Yeah seems like it’s a set price regardless of the drivetrain!

Doesn’t look as good value now! Wouldn’t mind paying it for something like a 335d with lots of turbos, filters and ancillaries but a bit steep when it’s basically covering the body and electronics.

I would suggest it would be cheaper to get recovery covered elsewhere for around £50 a year (StartRescue),with £30 a call out. Your excess could be increased to £250 perhaps?

Mines quoted at £558 with £100 excess so sounds about right.

You can get the warranty with and without breakdown. With you get the comprehensive breakdown package which is full european, recovered to a BMW dealer with a hire car provided to keep you going.

Or you can take it without the fully comp breakdown, and buy the BMW basic breakdown separately which is UK only and no hire car for about 60-70ish.

You can also get the comprehensive breakdown on its down for £150ish.

I went for it in the end anyway. The Comprehensive breakdown is £156 on its own so man maths said if you deduct that from the £447 total the warranty its only £291 quid.

Or, flip it the other way - if you take the warranty and fully comp breakdown package its roughly the same price as the warranty and basic bmw breakdown bought separately.

Either way if I wanted the warranty it didnt make much sense getting breakdown elsewhere.

Cars on 32k miles 71 plate

Comp with the breakdown cover and roadside is £359 with £250 excess.
