Planning to buy an X3 2.o or 3.0 2018-2020 age...

What are the main items to be aware of/watch out for at this age?

Thanks in advance,

Are there any specific watch out points on the 2.0i or 3.0i petrol models?

Just an FYI the only 3.0 petrol is the M40i - the 30i is a more powerful version of the 2.0 engine in the 20i.

I have had a 2019 x3 3.0d from new. Faultless, best car I’ve ever owned.

Thanks All.

How much has servicing been?

It's been a while since I've had a BMW (had an E46 M3 in the past & an E39 M5 - loved them both!) and I've not had a modern one before.

Our 71 plate 30d is going for oil service in March and thats £300 off so assume a major will be knocking on £500s door

Issues I had included loose panel in boot (fixed with double sided tape by dealer!), had to get whole steering rack replaced due to rattles. Sunroof water channels blocked causing water to leak in to car above sun visor. Still, enjoyed the car (2018 X3 M Comp)

Just routine servicing including pads and discs etc. Average £500 per year, on 97,000 miles now. Don’t have sunroof so can’t comment on that. Have been annoyed by the EGR recalls mind you.

Boing rather than start a new thread!

Any experience of the M40i with the B58 in?

Would really like to know real world economy (more for range than cash), and if there's anything spec-wise considered essential.

For me that's lumbar support, ideally a sunroof (these dark headlinings..) although I see the comments above about leaks, wondering if that's common or just bad luck/ drainage issues, H/K, super ideally heated steering wheel and rear seats, and HUD. All of which are cost options I believe.
