Hi, I have a 318iS, it's been off the road for such a long time so I'm thinking of selling it. The head has two cracks in it (oil getting into the cooling system) which is why it's been off the road. The body is in ok condition, the interior is really good. How much do you think it would be worth?

Body is the key when it comes to E30s IME.

Might be worth asking on E30Zone if it's still around.

An e30 318iS is a great car. I was working in the dealer network when it was launched. First weekend it was available I drove out of London onto the M4. Just past Heston I put my foot down and it zinged as my colleagues had told me it would. I’d joined BMW at the end of the 2002 and I had the first e21 320 as my demo at Park Lane. The e30 318iS was great but as the policeman said who pulled me over it was going too quickly. Points on my license.
E30s should be restored no matter the engine or body shape. They are good investments and brilliant drivers. In 2007 my e30 325i touring with 200,000 miles sold at Bonhams Festival of Speed auction for nearly £4k when the various forums said I’d be lucky to get £2k.

Oil in the coolant is almost certainly the profile gasket that's failed, a common problem back when. It's still a head off job to fix. M42 heads crack from an exhaust valve seat to a waterway causing overheating.

I've probably got a couple of M42 heads and at least one complete engine.
