Hi,
I bought a 2016 BMW 335d x drive sport tourer recently, it has 20" wheels, and you can see on the display in the car the PSI of each tyre.
I cracked one of my rear wheels this week. And instead of getting a repair, i'm biting the bullet and getting a new set of 19" wheels and tyres.

Ive had a quick look, but how do the sensors work on this vehicle? I'm just wondering if I need to change anything over from the original wheels?

Thanks

Wolfer

you need to take the sensors out of the wheels, they sit on the back of the tyre valve

Thanks for that Steve.

Crap, does that mean then, that when they turn up, i need to then go to a tyre place to get them taken out of the original wheels, and fitted inside the new ones?

That depends on whether your new wheel and tyre set has TPS valves fitted.

Yes, let the air out, push the tyre off the bead then remove, always worth getting the service kit, it contains the seal and valve stem

IMO fit new ones, makes a lot of sense as the batteries only have a finite life

I and a lot of others use these from this eBay reseller and they're faultless/genuine BMW at a very sensible price:

Take care to get the correct valve length for the wheel you're fitting, as BMW use at least 3 different valve lengths for their range of OE wheels - as I found out when I went down to an 18" OE winter wheel set and assumed I'd just need the same sensor that was in my OE 19's.
