BMW want to change my spark plugs at 3yrs 28k miles
Discussion
The car is a 2021 X6 M50i with 28k miles, had a service at 13k miles (standard scope and Oil/Filter) and brake fluid service around 5k miles ago.
This will be it's 2nd service which I cannot for the life of me think why at this age or mileage it needs a major service with things like Spark plugs etc. changing at a cost of £870.
After much googling etc. I have found various references that the spark plugs are every 6th service c60k miles.
The car is asking for "Oil service" and "check vehicle" only but the dealer has said they've checked it remotely and it needs the major service.
I'm going to pay a visit to read the actual key opposed to a remote check. The money, despite high, is a side issue, I want to make sure they know what they're doing.
Has anyone came across this before ?
I've checked with another dealer (via the key) and it requires this level of service. They wanted £1,250.
Its going in to the original dealer, who I also got to check the key yesterday, for £850.
Madness in my opinion and certainly a great way for dealers to consistently have a decent level of revenue.

My 335d xdrive (diesel, of course) had a major service in July at a main dealer: £499.99 to be precise. Four years ago the previous major service was £454.76

On that point, I am sure that six spark plugs would not cost £300 (£850 minus £500). My wife’s Skoda spark plugs cost £60 a set of 4.

I take your point but you do have to consider the extra scope and material, extra 4 litres of oil, extra air filter and the plugs are c£100 plus labour. My 335d xdrive (diesel, of course) had a major service in July at a main dealer: £499.99 to be precise.
