I've got one of these in my F10 5 series and would definitely recommend it - https://bavarian-automotive.co.uk/collections/x5-f...
Check what version of the iDrive system that you're running though.
There's loads of different brands but they all use the same principal - they piggy-back into the OEM system so you can still use the same screen, iDrive controller and steering wheel controls. You can flip between the system and the standard iDrive system, too.
Pretty straight forward to fit - took me a couple of hours max. Loads of videos on YouTube to help.
I wouldn't be without mine.

I use the Mr12Volt box in my F10. Does both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Supplied and fitted by Evolve.

Works really well but only, very minor issue, is that I can't play radio and Waze at the same time. No big deal really.
Most radio stations have an app you can get (BBC sounds for example)Works really well but only, very minor issue, is that I can't play radio and Waze at the same time. No big deal really.
You could then play the radio through your phone and the mr12volt box along with using waze
I'm looking at getting this box for my F11 too. Nice to see others are using it.
