Looking for some advice on the below car, is the spoiler a BMW part or aftermarket?

What is the general view of the car, a good example?

Bootlid spoiler looks aftermarket. I’m not a 2 series expert though so can’t be sure.

Hi. Yes the spoiler is after market. Looks a nice example, good colour combo. I have a M235i in black with red leather and it definitely livens the interior up. It also has the pro nav and Karmon audio which are a couple of good options to have. I guess it has FBMWSH ? mileage below average , good price. Uni royal tyres are a bit crap. You’d want to budget for some Michelin pilot sports. I’d go for it !

I can't find any evidence of BMW making a spoiler like that for the 2 Series, though the car does have M Performance body parts so maybe it is genuine. It mimics the design of a genuine one that was available for the M4.

What interests me more is that this car has a heated steering wheel. I didn't know this was an option on the F22 2 Series - I've never seen an F22 for sale with one. I'm after an F32 440i but I think if I could find an 69 plate M240i with a heated steering wheel, heated seats, HK audio and pro nav I might be swayed.

Interesting. Annoyingly you're then stuck with keyless entry as well though. I wonder if the heated steering wheel could be specced on its own?

Nice looking car, I had one same exterior colour but with ivory interior which I wouldn't recommend as an interior colour in hindsight.
I don't think the spoiler is a genuine BMW part.

Spec looks good on it I can't see anything missing I would want on one. Mine was very reliable in the three years I owned it, only issue I had was a failed window regulator as being a coupe the window glass drops an inch or so every time you open the door so likely wear and tear

Definitely a spurious spoiler but should be easy to remove. The steering wheel leather is a mess for 44k miles but this can be retrimmed.

The steering wheel condition stood out to me as well, what is the likelihood the mileage has been messed with?

Surely a main dealer car would have legit mileage and full BMW SH?

They should, when I bought mine it was from a main dealer and my wheel had marks on it, I was told by the dealer the previous owner was a fan of wearing rings which had marked the wheel. Mine had a couple of fairly noticeable scratches on the wheel

I've seen a number of "approved used" BMWs at main dealers with much lower mileage than that and steering wheels which were in a disgusting state, like some profusely sweating pervert had been grasping them for hours on end, so I wouldn't necessarily consider that an indication of dodgy mileage.

I decided against this one, you can see wear and tear in a lot of places if you look closely. The M Sport sill covers are badly damaged at the front from stone damage.

Bit late to this but to add my ten penneth - I've just bought a late pre-LCI F22 228i about four weeks ago. It's serving the station car purpose alongside our Disco5 family wagon.

I'm honestly blown away by the little thing. I had £15k so basically bought the best example (Approved Used Car) my money would buy me. I looked hard at a number of M235i's but they all looked like they'd had a hard life. I do wish for the 6cylinder on start-up or general messing around, the N20 turbo'd 4 is a bit quiet. But it's got a super amount of performance from the relatively small unit.

My car had done 40k with 2 owners and had every single option box ticked aside from the 40:20:40 seats, sunroof and autobox. It's a true little gem and I'd say go for the best spec you can find (if the condition matches) as it really elevates the experience (as with all BMW's IMO). But whether nipping to the station or school run with heated seats & heated steering wheel on after finding my perfect position again after moving the seats with the electric memory seats or having HK audio, decent Pro satnav, upgraded dual climate control for the occasional schlepp to LHR on business, it's a very grown up car but lots of fun when hooning around aswell.

Good luck with your search! smile
