Seems they skipped the design stage and dropped a Mitsubishi Gallant into an AI image generator.

An improvement over what? It looks awful.

I already held off replacing my F33 with a G3x because the styling was… challenging, but this is both generic and awful. It could easily be a Chinese newcomer on looks alone.

And therein lies the problem. Unless there's a nice 6 cylinder engine, why would you choose this over any other generic saloon?

The latter. But typically people ignore that and take them as gospel.

I'm too lazy to do it but it would be interesting if we could find one of their past drawings to compare to the actual model that came out.

I remember when we were in denial over the rumoured large vertical kidney grills and waddya' know the released model matched the drawing lol.

This surprises me as the previous 5 series is far from challenging, it is a great looking car. Some might argue it looks a bit boring but I can't see anything about it that was challenging.

The current 3 series doesn't have those. It has a very ordinary looking front for a BMW, probably because it was introduced in late 2018 and therefore before the new design direction.

If you put a bag over it's face, it doesn't look too bad.

I'm not sure it's wise of BMW to ruin the looks of it's chief revenue generating car though.

F30 and older, the 3 series saloon was always quite a handsome and well proportioned car. The G20 has inherited a little bit of the new family beaver face ugly gene, but isn't too bad in the right spec and colour.

I had a new 320i curtesy car I would rate it as 4/10 for so many reasons ,how much do they want for that, far too much probably. My 2018 335d I would give 9/10 the world gets worse everyday

I have a current M340i and I think it's a great car. I was never previously much of a fan of the 3 series, particularly the previous one and instead had various 5 series but found the current 3 series so good I happily moved to it from the 5 series.

I don't like any of the new BMW designs but the 3 series is still from the previous design type until it's replaced.

It’s just an auto express render so no guarantee it’s going to look like that. This is another render

Well, I mean, it is roughly car-shaped, I suppose. And, these days, we should be grateful for even that!
