E60 550i front brake lines are showing corrosion, the flex hoses seem OK. Is it a big job to replace the rigid front lines ? Thanks for all contributions.

Depends if you want genuine replacements or a simple cut and shut repair section. The latter is generally easy but the former tends to be more difficult and expensive due to the length and shape of the preformed lines.

Have you given them a gentle wire brushing to see if it's bad or just light surface corrosion?

If the latter clean it off and treat them

Thanks, think I will be going full hog with brake lines. I will see if a pre pack is available. I don’t fancy ending up with a patch up job tbh.

The car was in for a service and the techie working on the car listed a few items for my consideration. He also mentioned the bonnet struts starting to weaken.

That's fair enough; but only the corroded parts really need to be replaced

A good time to overhaul the lines too and fit HEL braided lines thumbup

Thanks, my son has just fitted new front discs and pads, we did notice the rigid brake lines were showing some corrosion before it went in for a service. Had a look a few weeks ago at HEL braided lines, seem well worth doing. More work incoming for my son smile
