Having read the BMW magazines and forums over the last decades I have read of the advice of upgrading my 523i inlet manifold to that of the earlier engine version.
For a time you could find these second hand but that time seems to have passed.
Likewise there was someone in Somerset, not far from me, who made an upgraded version but he died a few years back.
Jenvey make inlet throttle bodies that will fit my car I believe.
Can e36 M3 3.0 inlet throttle bodies be fitted?

Someone may suggest changing the car to a bigger engined model but I don’t want to. My car has a rust and dent free body, a pristine leather sports interior, a Bilstein/Eibach/Powerflex suspension and much more to make it how I want it.

But any other suggestions are welcome.

It depends entirely on when your car was built - before of after September 1998, single or double Vanos.

It won't fit.

You'll need a 330i 530i M54 inlet manifold and a suitable adaptor for the M52 throttle body.

I did this on a 328i M52tu years ago. I had to set the electronic throttle with BMW software afterwards to finish the job.
