I am currently considering purchasing a 118i of about 2016 vintage for short shopping trips and local runs. My concern is the timing chain, should this be replaced at the 70,000- 80,000 mile covered and cost of the work by indie specialist.
Thank you for comment and advise.

If there's nothing up with it; leave it be, keep the oil & filter fresh and use the car as normal.

No point in fixing something that isn't broken

There isn’t a recommended interval for changing a timing chain. B38 engines don’t have defects from factory causing chain issues like some of the older BMW engines. I wouldn’t worry about changing it if it’s not rattling.

Thanks for inputs/advise which I will bear in mind. Seeing used car ad’s some stating timing. chain changed prompted my question.
