Hi all. Looking at either an xc90 or x5
The x5 doesn’t have a heated screen available as far as I’m aware.
Does anyone have one? What are they like to defrost in the ice?

Reason- my wife works nights as a nurse so doesn’t want to wait for 20mins while it warms up following a night shift. The reason she lives her fiesta

Thanks
Lee

It’s a terrible small car. We could do with something bigger for road trips and dog duties

Get the plug in hybrid X5 and 15 minutes before leaving set it to pre heat the cabin. All windows will be clear, warmed seats, steering wheel and arm rests ready for when you get there.

Or get an xc90…or spend a minute with a scraper.

Not sure what age car you are looking for but I think both were available with webasto heaters as an option back in the day.

Though as above if you are going newer the PHEV versions mean you can preheat the cabin

Yes that’s a great shout but I live in a terraced house with no scope to charge atm which is frustrating.
Was the new version x5 available with a webasto? Maybe it could be retrofitted?

Judging by hospital multi-storey car parks I know, you will need a small car to easily negotiate the twisty winding ramps, or a large raised car with balloon tyres and large sidewalls to avoid kerbing the wheels. Ask her about the car park she uses for starters.

The hospital car park is an open air large ground floor type.

If the XC90 is anything like the V90 I had, it will have a remote start from the Volvo app to let you preheat the cabin.

Modern BMW screens clear of ice very quickly. Decent screen wash helps. They all have heated washer jets too.

Many thanks helix. On my research. It shows the x5 is a nicer place to be

Same with my Disco Sport and the wife's A5, start from the app 5 minutes before you need the car and it's all toasty and demisted when you get to it. I'd be shocked if the X5 can't to this.
