X2 Brake Pad reset

Red brake pad warning came up on my parents car a few weeks ago, saying brake pads need replacing. Fitted new pads and a wear sensor (non-genuine) on the front but cannot get the warning to reset.

Red warning saying brake pads need resetting remains and mileage counter keeps going up on the iDrive. Rear pads are fine.

Is there a reset procedure or should it just reset itself?

Yes. You will need to tell the car the sensor is new. Diagnosis software will help. Or there’s probably a button pressing sequence that might work.
