Who has made the change, was it worth it? Read some people miss the 6 once they leave?

I've only had my 640d for about 4 months but price wise they have fallen like a stone.....although I don't think it looks as good as the 6..... eek

Not much help but I am considering a similar switch albeit from a late 640d GC to an 840i or 850i GC. Two things that are putting me off is I think the 6 is still better looking and I have heard extending the BMW warranty on an 8 series is more like £2K a year! My 6 series is around £670.

The warranty for the 8 series does seem surprisingly expensive, makes me wonder if BMW know something about the 8 series range.

I keep looking. 640i GC (not d) to 840i GC.

Like the others, I keep going back to the fact I prefer the way the 6 looks. Mine is still low mileage (27k on a 14 plate) so no real reason to change. I may spend and put CarPlay on it at some point, in which case it will do me for years.

ive had mine 2 years just over and its gone from 23k to being offered around 10k trade in.

i assumed it had done most of its depreciation , sadly i was wrong.

now to change will cost me around 6k a year which is mental

not sure what else to change too that isnt well over 30k

Mine has only done 26k but I paid slightly over the top as it had full spec, apart from carbon interior trim which i've just had fitted. Added M5/6 Comp alloys.

There are afew other oem+ mods so not sure I want to repeat again on the 8 series. The rear seats look cramped like the 6.

Might have to stick with that I have for now and see what the 8 prices are like.

I found someone breaking one back in Christmas and got the whole kit for 450 lol

Remap...no still has warranty and its plenty quick enough. I have an E63 M6 if I need a proper blast. I do have an Hartge tuning box in storage but was told by Birds UK that it wasn't really worth it. I might add it if I ever get bored/dont renew warranty!

I think unless you can find a home for your own car via private sale from someone who appreciate what your car is, you're going to very likely blow your brains out on the value of your car at trade in, relative to what you're buying.

Like the 6 series before it, the 8 series is dropping. They will continue to drop.

Unless you have a very compelling reason for changing other than an 8 series looks good value, i'd be sticking to what you have.

All IMHO of course smile

I would only sell mine to buy one, wouldn't want trade in etc but as you say there has to be someone who appreciates the car with the mods. Although all are reversible (apart from exhaust tips)

For the price and time i've spent on the 6 it's probably not worth moving to a 8......yet.
