F48 X1 voice command button

Hi all,

We recently bought a 2017 BMW X1, which we're generally happy with. Low mileage XLine and other nice options like the pan roof, reversing camera, folding mirrors etc.

One odd thing I can't quite work out is the voice command system. Coming from an E91 that didn't have Bluetooth, it seems a potentially useful feature to be able to make a phonecall without taking your eyes off the road.

Have paired my phone to the car, which works fine.

However, the voice command button on the steering wheel only seems to work sporadically. When it does work, it works well. Can use it to make calls, send text message etc. But, 9 times out of 10, if you push the button, nothing happens.

Just wondered if anyone has had that issue before? Car is under warranty for 6 months, but I wonder if it's something I'm doing wrong.

IDrive seems to indicate you can upgrade the software by inserting a USB stick, but I've no idea where you're actually download the updates?
