I hate all these assistant systems in my 2024 M440. I've managed to find out how to turn off the one trying to wrestle the steering wheel from me though it has to be turned off manually every trip.

Has anyone found a way of stopping the steering wheel vibration when it thinks I’m leaving my lane?

Sadly, these are mandatory on ALL new cars, and have to come on at each restart, even if they can be switched off by the driver for each journey.

A huge bug smacked into the windscreen just in front of my forward facing camera, and I had no further warnings... a terrible situation, you will no doubt agree.

That’s a terrible shame. laugh

I’d miss the camera when parking in a tight spot though.

Different camera, a parking camera mounted there would be pretty useless and offer no more of a view than your eyes would give you.

The BMW implementation of ADAS is woeful, no better than their rain sensing wipers have been for years (piss poor).

My F30 rain-sensing wipers are excellent.. when it starts to rain, I switch them on and leave them to it (they default to off when the ignition is off).

Yours must have escaped the final calibration test (that's a joke BTW) over 13 BMWs and whether E F or G chassis they have all been woeful, but I'm glad you like yours.

I do when there’s traffic. Oddly enough when there’s no one else about I don’t bother. If that makes me a sub standard driver fair enough.

Mine too, not quite as good as my wife's VW but still more than good enough to not cause me any annoyance.

Has to be a massive market for a company to tweak the code to remember last settings, much like a remap

I agree. This will encourage ridiculously bad habits like, indicating to pull back in after an MWay overtake (because the lane keeping assistance requires it), yet that can be hazardous/confusing when an off exit is upcoming. A bad system.

No inference from me in any way-shape-or-form about driving standards, just a simple statement that, that is what the system wants, and yes, it is not the right thing to do to indicate back in.

As per usual, a flawed system touted as a driving aid.

Can anyone code it out yet?

The ‘assistance’ on the 1 and 3 series courtesy cars that I’ve had really annoyed me. It was far too intrusive and hated the narrow entrance into the village I live in. Was frustrating that you had to turn it off every time the car started.

That though crossed my mind but if it was coded out would that not be classed as a modification by the insurance companies?

As I wrote, that is how the regulation is written, thus all manufacturers have to comply.

I know. Doesn’t stop it being bloody annoying especially when the system is poorly implemented.

I guess they would say it was, but the chances of them spotting it are low. My sister in laws car was written off from pictures, collected by Copart and paid out for.
