I bought this from Autodoc - https://www.autodoc.co.uk/delphi/7007186

described as 'DELPHI SS10904 Camshaft position sensor'

Yet when it arrived it has 'Crankshaft Sensor' written on the box.

Even though the item number is the same on the box as it is on the description [SS10904]

Do you think this is ok to try and use as a Camshaft sensor on my E36 328i? I can't get in contact with a human from Autodoc.

Who make the cam & crank sensors for the E36 M52? Is it Delphi?

If not I wouldn't connect it at all; these sensors, like the MAF need to be OEM BMW or whoever makes them (VDO, Siemens tend to be the usual suspects) etc

Aftermarket ones only cause more issues

Genuine only for critical sensors like crank and cam angles, O2 and MAF. 'Made in China' would put me off immediately as their aftermarket stuff is dog sht.

OE is a mixture of Delphi and Bosch, but genuine BMW Delphi and Bosch is different to aftermarket Delphi and Bosch.
