The other day my mybmw app wouldn't connect to my 2016 F15 X5 and then I also noticed that the traffic flow on the sat nav wasn't working either, although the sat nav still picks up where my car is.

I emailed BMW support and they advised me to update the BMW services (menu > connecteddrive > options > update bmw services).

I did that, waited 24 hours as suggested but now it's even worse. The mybmw app still doesn't connect, I still don't have traffic flow on my sat nav and now all the menu in the connecteddrive section of the iDrive have gone apart from mobile care and hotline meaning I can't access messages etc. Also if I go to the connected drive options, update BMW services is now greyed out.

I've tried rebooting the iDrive by pressing and holding the volume button, and also pressing and holding both the volume and menu button but neither way has done anything even if I hold the button(s) for over 1 minute.

Does anyone know what's gone wrong and how to fix it please?

Is it based on 3G? If so its all getting turned off… my F10 stopped a while ago although I would have thought that the F15 is based on a newer idrive setup. Still, if its 3G dependent this is what you can expect.

Great frown I wonder why BMW have not mentioned this then rather than trying to help me fix it.

I have found recently that my car now updates its location by GPS and I have been able to remote lock/unlock it, which must be by GPRS. However I only get the RDS supplied TMC data not the RTTI though my subscription has obviously lapsed.

It first disabled itself for me in Belgium in 2022 and the cars location in the app was stuck there for some time.

Thanks very much. BMW have since been back to me and suggested I update the iDrive as it's still on a 2015 version, they suggested taking it into BMW to have this done. It's a lot of hassle to do that so I've downloaded the update myself and plan on doing it myself over the weekend. I asked them about dropping 3G and they completely ignored this question.

Can I ask where you find the updated software. I check here

That's where I got mine from, I've no idea if what I downloaded was the latest version, it was the only version if gave me and it's newer than the one I had. I've just installed the update and connected drive's working again now smile

On a side note, is there any way I can get email notifications of new posts if I forgot to tick the box for this when making the initial post?

So I'm still having issues with this, it seems very intermittent. It works for a while, then it stops, I go into the connected drive options and click update BMW services, this takes several days to take effect and then it works for a few weeks before I have to repeat the above.

I've updated the iDrive software as per BMW Connecteddrive 'help' suggested, and the also recommended updating the car software as this was showing as not been done since 2015. I took it to a friend who did this for me, connected drive worked for a few weeks and then it stopped again.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the issue may be please as it's doing my head in?

BMW connecteddrive people said my car is still being supported, it's actually on 2G not 3G 😱

Also having an issue with ConnectedDrive. I have a 2015 F10. Updated maps as hadn't been done for a couple of years and bought the connected booster package, which worked fine for about a week. Last week Friday noticed that RTTI is no longer working. Then yesterday BMW apps stopped showing up in the ConnectedDrive menu. Update BMW services was greyed out. ConnectedDrive support are suggesting to update the vehicle software at a dealer from 07-15 to 07-24. MyBmw app is also not able to connect to the car
