ZF6 service - Do or don’t?
Discussion
Hi all,
I’m pondering whether to get my ZF6 transmission serviced, it has never been done as far as I know.
The car is only on 82.5k miles but it is a 2006, so the fluid is very very old.
Feedback generally seems positive after a service but the apparent issues a service can cause, mainly aimed at transmissions that have missed the recommended service interval of 60k miles or 8 years is making me apprehensive.
Considering the age of the fluid is it best just left as it is and not “disturb” anything? The transmission is absolutely fine currently.

Yes. Get it serviced.
I had all my E39s done, older than your car and some with much higher mileage (146k, 98k and my most recent at 56k, but 20 years old and a Japanese import)
Also had my 2006 E65 done at 95k miles in 2018 and will be getting my current F31 done next month once we're back from The Highlands... (it'll be over 100k then)
A proper ZF service will do it a world of good
