Best OEM short-shifter option?
Discussion
I have a 645ci manual that's currently fitted with a Hartge short-shifter which I find it's both too short and also places the shifter too far forward for my taste (2,4,6 are where neutral would be). What's a good option for something a bit longer and ideally rear biased rather than forward or neutral? I like the shift in my 5-speed Z4 2.5i if that's any help. There seems to be a lot of options and options out there and I'm not sure which way to go.
Thanks
Thanks
Wasn't the E60 545i manual shifter the one to go for within OEM?

Thinking about changing the oil in the box at the same time, any thoughts? I know Sreten off of Youtube likes to go a different route to OEM.

My pals E39 M5 that's in bits currently (not due to be finished until Spring next year) is doing the same I think... He always struggles with 2nd and 3rd IIRC, more so when its cold
Different car I know, but I’m using the shifter from a Z3 1.9 in my wife’s 330i.
These became popular in the 130i crowd once the official BMW Performance shirt shifter became NLA.
I’m using Redline gearbox oil in my manual cars and combined with ditching the CDV and changing the white shifter bush, I’m getting a good shift, certainly by BMW standards.

These have a slightly cranked backwards upper section and work well.
