A friend / colleague has me and is really pleased with it. He had an M140i before which he was a big fan of too.
The interior is really good on the later far, a big step up from the F2x era cars. The engines are obviously not a patch but they’re quick enough.
Personally I prefer them to the Mk8 Golf because of the interior.

Interesting, I had a 218i Gran Coupé recently as a courtesy car (which I suspect must be quite similar to the 1 series) which I found disappointing inside. A noticeable step down from the 320i of a similar age I had before it. Maybe that comparison did the 2 series no favours. The interior is really good on the later far, a big step up from the F2x era cars. The engines are obviously not a patch but they’re quick enough.

We are all different.
But found the BNW F40 interior just as appealing quality wise as my old F30 .

It’s not as nice a 3, but it’s a massive step up from the previous generation.3george said:
I've got one - what do you need to know ?
What are running costs like for these? This is where I see a key difference between the 128ti and GTI as the GTI I get 2yr warranty used and £35/month servicing/warranty/mot until the car is 6yrs old.Have you had any issues with it? This is a concern with the GTI given all the problems with the infotainment that I see online.

A G20 3er is definitely going to be a step above quality wise, the 1er and 2er share a lot of switchgear and obviously infotainment and gauge cluster but the general quality of the materials is definitely worse. Both are definitely a step above the previous gen (F30) 3er.A 128ti might feel a tad nicer inside as I think you get a few bespoke bits- the ti logo in a few places and red stitching in a few spots.
