640d - Burning plastic smell from air vents
Discussion
No direct experience of this, but I can imagine a burning smell if your blower motor is stalling or perhaps its bearings have gone and so the motor load is causing the supply wires to overheat. And obviously any bad smells caused by the blower motor will go straight into the cabin. There's usually also a blower motor resistor which can get quite hot. It's actually cooled by the air flow. When it fails, symptoms are loss of control of fan speed over some or all of its speed range. Does the smell happen at all fan speeds?
