Yes.

It's the N13 'Prince' engine used in Minis and Peugeot Citroen (PSA) crap. By 70k it is on borrowed time. They aren't a major challenge on the RWD 116i and 316i and £600ish ought to cover it. Five hours labour.

I had an E87 123d with the N47 engine that is well known for cam-chain issues but when I sold it on 81K miles there were no symptoms of impending failure and plenty of people have got way past 6 figure mileages with no issues so I'd just keep listening for any signs.

I'm not sure your car would have swirl flaps - AFAIK it was only diesels that had them.

Generally the timing chains in those engines stretch and don’t snap, so it may jump a couple of teeth and cause running problems, or you will just get noises and engine warning light.

In both these cases -
The cure will be a new timing chain with no other damage

So just leave it until you need to repair it, if you ever have to, would be my advice.

If your oil pressure light pings be it intermittent or not …. do not ignore. Plastic chain guides are broken and clogging oil pick up pipe.
