Retrofitting navigation system to f30
Discussion
Hi guys sorry for for the basics I'm buying my first bmw. It's a 2019 f30.
The navigation system appears to be the basic system with a small screen and doesn't have Android Auto.
I've used Android Auto for the last 6 years and think i would struggle with the orginal system on bmw. Is it possible to retrofit the larger professional head unit and does anyone have recommendations on somewhere in Scotland?
Cheers!

I believe you can now get new aftermarket screens that have Android Auto built in, as opposed to retrofitting the correct BMW Professional screen and the correct control box, before coding it to support Android Auto.
Idrive 6 does not support AA - only idrive 7 onwards which I don’t know if anyone has retrofitted to the earlier cars.As above you are better fitting an aftermarket unit
Lots of knowledge here:

For my F30 (with an NBT EVO headunit) I went with a Bimmertech Prime MMI. In theory the support is better (more frequent s/w updates to iron out issues and there's an actual company+person to speak to compared to the various chinesium units).
You shouldn't expect a 100% streamlined experience as it's not an OEM solution obviously, but overall they offer a decent solution.
