Am wondering if anyone can tell me why this 3 series has 6 owners in the last 6 years. It wasn't a press car, judging by the fact it's on "BC" plates, but is it possible to access the service history or work done to see if it has a persistent fault? Must be some reason it has gone through owners at an average of 8000 miles each.

You can try to get the service history from https://bimmerdecoder.net with the VIN and by buying some credits.

If you pay for a check like vcheck it should tell you the dates of the ownership changes to give you an idea

Will it do that? If so that would be very helpful, but the normal HPI checks won't tell you all that as far as I know.

Yes a vcheck will show that.

However I have just put the reg into the free check on the totalcarcheck app which gives you advert history which is enlightening:

11/03/2021
29000 miles
£16495

23/04/2021
30172 miles
£15995

23/05/2021
30210 miles
£16690

22/12/2021
35256 miles
£19500

31/12/2021
35256 miles
£18995

17/04/2022
36153 miles
£18995

09/06/2023
45000 miles
£16500

23/06/2023
45600 miles
£17749

Now some of these are possibly the dealer re-advertising the car (And I think one of them may be someone whos bought it then flipped it a few months later for a quick profit due to current car price nonsense) but looks a bit suspect to me, especially where the car appears for sale a month or so later with just a couple hundred miles added. Suggests to me its been returned with some kind of issue, possibly multiple times.

Interesting, thank you. Amazing that it is advertised for £2k more than it was 2 years ago, with more miles! The used car market is mad.

I contacted the dealer again this morning who didn't have any more information, so definitely one to pass.
