What’s everyone’s experiences with BMWs anti corrosion warranty?

I bought my m5 6.5 months ago I’ve done 2500 miles and I’ve started to notice some oxidisation issues on both front doors and the rear quarter.

I took it back to bmw where I bought it and they said they’ve never seen anything like it before. They took pictures and said they’d send it off to Germany for approval.

Few days after I’d rang for an update to be told the person that deals with the claims was off that week and I’d have to wait until next week, this pissed me off somewhat. Anyways I got a call to say the claim would be put through and they’d ring me with an update. We get to the following Wednesday when I get a call asking me to send them more pictures which I did and even circled them to make them clear. They sent those off and I presumed that was it. So a week later I ring for an update in the morning and was told the manager would ring me back, he didn’t and sent me an email at around 5pm saying they need the car on-site for more pictures. At this point I’m ready to explode! The next morning I dropped the car off at bmw and it’s been there since. They wanted me to pick it up but I’ve said I’ll pick it up when it’s fixed. It’s been an absolute shambles from this dealership.

F10s corroded on the edges of the doors. I had a bit of a mare getting them to honour their warranty (12yrs iirc) but eventually I got it fixed under warranty. Usual BS such as lying about paint depth and claiming it has been resprayed both sides already etc.

Ps they don't send the pictures to Germany, there is a guy (yep, one guy) in BMW UK who reviews bodywork claims.

Yes my old f10 m5 done the same. I told them this as well and they said that in all his time he’s never heard about any paint issues. That’s when I knew he was talking utter rubbish.

I had a great experience! I noticed some bubbling on the rear arches of my 8.5 years old F30. Showed the chap at the body shop, he took some pics to send off and about 3-4 weeks later the work was approved. I didn’t have any hassle whatsoever.

A certain dealership that sounds like shatner was what killed my enthusiasm for the brand.

This is my second m5 my first also had rust issues on the b pillars rust issues on 4 year old car with 29k miles is really putting me off the brand. The fuss to correct the issue is an absolute joke. I’d be embarrassed as a dealership and would repair it at my own cost then reclaim off bmw. Heads of the dealership are all cc’d into email etc yet no contact about it.
