Remote Diagnostics
Discussion
Booked my car in with my local BMW dealer next week for MOT and end of warranty check.
They asked me for permission to perform remote diagnostics on the car to identify issues and order parts in prior to the appointment (which is handy not that I can identify any issues with my vehicle personally)
Anyone had any experience of this service and if it picks up any issues you weren't aware of?

Fairly standard now for the more forward thinking retailers - maximises potential warranty sales and reduces customer visits which increases productivity and customer satisfaction.
Proactive Care is the latest buzzword - allows BMW to check for CCM’s remotely and proactively contact to offer assistance if required. Also does some amazing stuff like measuring tyre treads depths remotely, so the retailer can contact you when your tyres are getting low.
BMW are right at the forefront with this kind of thing currently.

Sensors which measure rolling diameter. Take something like a recent G20 which has a QR code on the tyre sidewall - this has to be reset every time the tyres are changed which logs the brand, model, Dot codes, etc to make the calculations.
If you don’t have this reset when changed (or within 1000 miles) your tyre sensors will be pinging all the time. The system knows when the tyre is down to 3mm or if you have had pressure loss, for example.

I've just had 4 new tyres fitted to my M340i - but nobody did this, presumably most places don't realise they should. Is it something you can do yourself, or is it only the dealer that can do it? I can't imagine many people get tyres fitted at the dealers.
