Has anyone replaced a broken parking sensor on a F25 X3?

I tried to get a warranty claim on it which was denied and it cost £390 from a BMW dealer. Was wondering how difficult it would be for a novice with a few basic DIY tools to replace them? Mine was in the front bumper. I guess an Indie would have been much cheaper as well. Seems the part is approx £70.

Full bumper removal to do the job, so a few hours labour + parts and don't forget these cars do not like pattern parts for sensors, so make sure it is genuine.

All of a sudden £390 doesn't seem steep!

Seems a lot of money.
How often do you use your front sensors, is it only 1 not working? If the others are working ok surely you can manage? I’d be tempted to live with it if it’s a bumper off job !

Actually ended up being £460 including 30m investigation!

Unfortunately the whole system falls if one is broken so had no sensors plus annoying prompt on the idrive telling me it's broken that you have to accept before you proceed.

Bumper off is bad maybe indie is the best alternative.

Thanks!
