I've just purchased an M235i and have noticed when lights are on the front indicators also illuminate (they are clear bulbs not amber), they work as normal when indicators are actually in use (ie they flash on/off).

Is there something wrong, or has this been set up via coding (so can also be removed using a coding tool)?

I am confused. They are clear bulbs, you say; but do they sit behind an amber lens? If so, then with lights on, do they project an amber light?

Sounds to me like they are dual colour LEDs, white light when lights are on and flash orange when indicator is activated.

I thought that was something that some VAG and BMW owners get programmed to look extra cool. Seen a few cars about with it.

Standard / legal requirement in the US I think?

Spot on. An illegal scene mod. Very popular with Golf and Scirocco owners. Often accompanied with gel plates and wind deflectors. May also be used in addition to black wheels.

Thanks for replies.

I think the actual light has also been changed as it appears to flash white, not amber.

I’m not keen on the look so will try and get it coded back to original spec!

My 2018 Seat Leon FR has white LED DRLs around 3 sides of the headlights & they flash orange as indicators. This is standard on the car. All lights are LED except the dim single reversing bulb!

So the indicators have been changed to white bulbs, that are permanently on when the lights are on, and flash white light.

Basically it's been made into the US style "C'os it's kool bruv!" combined sidelight/"turn signal" lights, with the added twist of now being illegal white indicators, instead of amber.

(The funny thing is, the "scene" in the USA, is to convert US-spec VW's ,Audi's and BMW's from combined sidelight/"turn signal" lights, to Euro style separate sidelights and indicators, where the indicators are off when not in use, even when the lights are on)

In it's current form, it is screaming: "PLEASE PULL ME OVER OFFICER!" when being driven in the dark, as soon as they see the white indicators operating.
