HELP: Petrol gauge always empty BMW 318iS Coupe

All of a sudden, the petrol guage on my P-reg 318iS is always showing empty even after a full top up!

Has anyone any idea on what the problem might be and what the solution is??

Try the self test (hold down the trip reset button while turning on the ignition)

If it moves with the rest of the dials its a problem with the sender... if it doesnt its probably a dodgy connection in behind the gauge.

A popular cause is the right hand 'Tank sender unit' the wire breaks just under the top in the tank, access it from the inspection hole under the rear seat.
