thanks guys, i figured so, but thought better checking off someone who knows.
now the li-on battery hidden under the plastic cover at the front, what's that power?
and if i put a Ctek charger on the posts in the engine bay, can it be left on? or does it have to be taken off after a few days?
i ask you this because my neighbour had his r1 on an optimax charger and it split his battery top, but he had the charger on a timer coming on and going off every few days

The CTEK chargers are smart; so they'll judge whether it needs to be re-topped up etc
I used to leave my previous Japanese import 540i on for weeks as I wasn't using it and the previous F01 730D for around 3 weeks before that; again as it wasn't being used
What's making you want to plug it into the CTEK currently; are you not using the car as much or are you having battery issues?

i just got it, and i thought it wouldn't hurt as the Ctek will tell me how soon the battery is fully charged. The CTEK chargers are smart; so they'll judge whether it needs to be re-topped up etc

wouldn't have thought a fairly newish 3 series would need to be trickle charged.
They are designed to be left in heathrow airport longstay carpark weeks on end and still work.
i don't live near heathrow...They are designed to be left in heathrow airport longstay carpark weeks on end and still work.
seriously though i thought connecting up has the Ctek checking, then charging the battery, i was looking to see how soon it showed fully charged, and it might be more than a week before it's run again.

Use it weekly, take it for an Italian tune up once in a while & it'll be fine
