So the electric handbrake failed on my 2012 e70 X5

Managed to remove the old one easily enough but can’t decide on the best way forward for replacement.

Obviously the BMW OEM part would be the first choice if you ignore the cost which I believe to be around £800.

The other alternatives seam to be have it rebuilt at closer to £300 or to try one of the cheap after market ones on eBay which can be had for under £200.

Has anyone tried either of the second options and was it successful? Or do you wish you’d just gone OEM?

Rule of thumb when working on cars. NEVER EVER use cheap ebay/aftermarket parts unless there is no OEM alternative. I'd ALWAYS rather use a used OEM part than a cheap aftermarket part. I'd go with the refurbished OEM part if a new part is too expensive.
