Tyre fitting issues
Discussion
Has anyone else had issues with brand new tyres being fitted to their car only for them to go flat within days and have to be returned to the fitters?
I had Michelin Pilot Sport 5's put on 2 weeks ago but the Tyre pressure warning came on after a few days and so i took the car back. They put more air in and reseated a tyre and reset the TPS.
About a week later...the tyre went from being freshly topped upon saturday lunchtime to being literally flat by saturday 6pm. It got so bad I couldnt even get it to keep more than 10 psi in it and had to drive the last mile to the same fitters basically on a flat ...in the dark, with hazards on. (which wasnt fun)
Its back at the garage AGAIN and they have ordered a new tyre (they think the valve is fine and the rim isnt cracked)

Thanks gents.
The wheels arent corroded as far as I can tell (cant really check the inside rim though) and they supposedly checked the valve was ok during the first visit. The previous tyres held presure fine for 3+ years.

Spray soapy water around the bead and look for bubbles?
The garage has the car now so I cant really check where the air is getting out... they said they will be putting in some 'leak detection fluid' when the new tyre goes on to be able to check it fully. They have paid for the new tyre so I suppose I cant complain really.Gassing Station | BMW General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
