M62TU 840ci - timing chain cover oil leak
Discussion
Hello all,
My father has a M62TU 740i with around 125,000 miles. - Anyway it has a small oil leak which the garage has diagnosed as the lower timing chain cover needing replacement (possibly upper as well).
My question is that is this something that should be done urgently as its a very expensive job.
When he does get round to getting it sorted, is there anything else that might as well get done at the same time too (the garage mentioned timing chain tensioner.) But we were thinking cooling system components?
Thank you.

Personally I'd get it done as it'll never stop (the gaskets are metal IIRC) and it'll constantly leak oil down the front of the block...
I think, it could be an engine out job as well due to the tightness of the engine in the engine bay and no room to work on them; but wondering if it could be done in situ but with all the gubbins removed etc?
Either way; really, they need doing
