Why would they sell it like this? (E31)
Discussion
I'm a long-time BMW fan. I've owned an E30, A few E36s, two E46s, and still have my 330Ci and a beautiful clean example of an E32 7-series. I've always said I'd only let it go if the right E31 came along. Preferably a V12. In my dreams, an 850CSi, but that's not going to happen any time soon.
So there's an 1994 850Ci for sale, and I really like it. But it's so filthy that I can't help wonder why they didn't give it a valet before taking photos. What else has been neglected if they couldn't even be bothered to clean it? Why would you sell a car in that state?! Grubby interior, filthy seats, they haven't even spent much time on the outside!
I'm not going to bid, but I might have had I thought it had been taken care of by a loving owner!

Not the biggest fan of the colour combo, silver ext + grey leather + grey dash.
And yes, as mentioned E39 M5 alloys.
When I watch M539 Restorations I'm inspired to buy something like this. Then I realise I neither have the time or (especially) skill for such a project.
I agree; light paint with light interior never really works for me. And yes, as mentioned E39 M5 alloys.

The E39 M5 wheels would bother me less, and actually think they work with the E31, but obviously not for the ultra purist, but the general state of the car + the V12 badges does mean it is presents itself as very tired. And as others have remarked, the light paint with the light interior is not a good combination.
I like the colour combination and I even like the wheels. Yes, I'd prefer the original wheels by far, but that's not enough to put me off. But filth absolutely is, not because I'm averse to a few hours with a sponge, but because it reveals their lackadaisical attitude to the car. Shame.
Boring spec ever, was probably a bargain for someone with time and money to spend on it.
