Connected Drive
Discussion
Considering a used 225XE and quite like the ability to pre-heat/cool the cabin etc. I’m sure I used to be able to go onto the BMW website and it showed the Connected Services for approx £150 a year? Can’t seem to find it now, it just shows adding on steering wheel heating etc. see below:
https://www.bmw.co.uk/en/shop/ls/cp/connected-driv...
Is this all that is available now and does that mean that even on older BMWs they’ll be able to disable seat/steering wheel heating if you don’t pay for these?
Looking at ‘18 -‘19 plate cars if that helps. By connected services, I’m just meaning the ability to see where the car is, lock/unlock/pre-heat etc.

Check that it can do pre-heating. A lot of them have the option to ventilate the cabin through ConnectedDrive, but it doesn't actually heat. Just blows air in.https://www.bmw.co.uk/en/shop/ls/cp/connected-driv...

We have a 68 plate 225XE and have just renewed the connected drive for £69 (1year). It will pre-condition for heating, never bothered to see if it will cool!
Cheers

Can you advise on how you renewed? Was it on the app or do you have a web link? Cheers
Dave
Also, if you don’t mind me asking - how do find the 225XE? It ticks all the boxes for me but difficult to find one local to try.

Do you have a ConnectedDrive account linked to the car? If so the ConnectedDrive portal will show the available options to purchase specific to the vehicle.Edited by Somebody on Saturday 4th February 22:26
Yes, we do have a connected drive account, thus we get an automatic reminder when it's due for renewal.
How do we find it as a vehicle. It's Ok for what it is. I know that sounds a little offish, but does tick a lot of boxes as an efficient means of local transport. The great majority of our journeys are to the supermarket once a week or into town. Both of which are 10 to 12 mile round trips 90% done on electric. And this was the reason for it replacing a golf MkVI TDI after retiring and no longer doing a 60 mile commute. (The diesel did not like short journeys and never got warm). On longer journeys it will average about 38mpg at motorway speeds but will get up towards 70mpg on country / A roads if you stick to 58mph or below when the electric system will regularly cut in. It's and easy car to drive, visibility is good, steering is not to bad on feedback and you rarely notice the change from electric rear drive to ICE front drive. In ICE mode the three cylinder 1500 engine can be a little harsh when pushing on, but in reality it's not that sort of car. In normal (edrive) mode its quite nippy up to 30 mph. To date we have only two problems, the headlight system through a wobble which just required a software reset and a failure of the charging cable, which was replaced under warranty. In short, as an every day vehicle, which we can pre-condition in winter, we like it. Would we buy another, possibly, as we are not yet convinced on fully electric for longer journeys when we go on holiday.
Hope that helps.
Cheers
