looking on auto trader at BMW 330i and finding 2.0L 184 bhp and 2.0L 255 bhp but both showing the same 0-60 and fuel consumption (combined).
are there any physical looks that identify the two models apart at a glance?
also, can anyone give me a clue to the actual mpg of both models?

The 30i is 255hp, the 20i is 190ish so the details on AT are wrong.

on the government's road tax checker, it's showing the cars as 1998cc, and i'm not sure they'd be missing a chance of having another bob or two out of us.

If you put the reg into the 'sell my car' section on PistonHeads' website it will give you some tech info on the car, would that help?

thanks, will do, but the previous reply was correct, A/T is posting incorrect bhp for the 330i, then later in the details it gets it correct at 255, but initially on the first page with the picture it shows 184 bhp in the headline.

Not sure exactly which 330/320 you are looking at, so can't answer directly, but you do know that not all BMWs have the engine size in litres as the last 2 numbers and haven't for quite a while now, don't you?

2012 - 2019 3 er.

320 - 2.0 litres
328 - 2.0 litres

330i is also 2.0L, but B48 engine. It's a variant of the 2.0L used in the 320i, with a few upgrades to handle the increased power.

You are right, I meant to put that in there also, but got distracted.
