New key fob required
Discussion
Two or three weeks ago I started a thread about my E60 refusing to start (no crank, no start). The car is in my local BMW Indie garage and they have diagnosed that new key fob is needed. Couple of days and back on the road, except it’s been over a week and nothing from the garage. I’ve read that replacement key fobs are an issue owing to the shortage of micro chips, has anybody else recently had experiences of bein* unable to replace ignition fob?
I’ve pressed my trusty Austin campervan into action now, hadn’t been started for four months, turn the key and away we go. It’s almost sixty years old
eta : car back home now and running beautifully. Apparently a previous owner, according to BMW a indie, had ‘modified’ the electronic box which controls the steering lock. It was this modification causing the problems I have had for the past month or two. Modification removed and new correct electronics fitted.
