Yet another tyre question or two...
Discussion
I'm about to order 4 new tyres for my X5 and wondered why the inner shoulder is delaminating as much as it is.
I'm a bit annoyed I hadn't noticed before but the rears are fine and both fronts have done this. Yes I know the tyres needs changing urgently and probably should have changed them at the end of last year :-( Is it just end of life? I'm pretty OCD at checking pressures (but obviously not OCD enough to check the inner shoulders!). I'll get the tracking looked at as soon as the new tyres are on.
On that note, does anyone run 21" staggered setup and can recommend good tyres? They're currently Michelin Super Sports: front - 285/35R21 105Y, rear - 325/30R21 108Y
I can find PS4S for the rear but not the front - unless I get an MO tyre which I assume is OE Mercedes?

I suspect even after doing the geometry you will still have a similar wear pattern.
The trouble with these cars is that because they drive so well you forget the laws of physics, but your tyres don't.
They are set up (suspension wise) for slight understeer, so the inner tyre on a corner is being dragged slightly & that wears the inner shoulder the most.

Thanks for the replies guys. Yes I've had geometry 'issues' on my previous X5, the inner shoulders were quite worn. I know BMW do like quite an aggressive negative camber.
I’ve had about 21k miles out of these tyres, so I guess I’ve had my money’s worth, even though a new set of Michelin Super Sports will set me back about £1500.
