Oops, meant "non RFTs" in the title...anyways:

Sorry in advance as I expect this question has been asked to death, but will there be any issues in me switching from run flats to non-run flats on my G20 330i? It is not an x-drive and I intend switching like for like on sizes, of course.

I did it on my old 3 series years ago and it improved the ride but for some reason I've started second guessing myself this time as to whether or not it is a good idea.

I plan to just carry a gunge kit and keep my fingers crossed for no punctures.

So:

1. Can I do it?
2. Should I do it?

Cheers.

Did the same on my F series M240i and no issues at all, have had the new tyres on over 12 months. I noticed when I first did it the ride felt softer which was slightly strange but now I guess i'm used to it.

No regrets

Personal choice

But I'm not an advocate of RFTs at all; been out in various BMWs with them fitted; had them on a previous F01 and just removed them on the F31 we bought yesterday

For me they don't offer anything but a louder, harsher ride and tram lining; but the roads local to us are terrible...

A decent tyre inflation kit, decent breakdown cover is all that's needed

Done it on both the 630i (Michelin PS4) and X4 (Michelin CrossClimate). Both resulted in better ride and reduced road noise. Have a BMW mobility kit in both, how effective it'll be in the event of a puncture, not sure!

For me, I am reasonably satisfied with the RFTs on my F30 335dx, Goodyear EfficientGrips 18” staggered. No tramlining. Some road noise, but I doubt that would be down to RFTs. We have pretty decent roads around here (North Wales). I am not disturbed enough to experiment with changing them to Non- RFTs.

I tried non run flats on my E91 and put run flats back on. I found non rfts gave poor turn in, handling and body control. The thing with ride and handling is that they are subjective which is why opinions vary.

BMW switches from RFT to non-RFT on the G05 X5, when you go to “22 tyres, presumably as a nod to ride comfort.

My 21” OEM winter wheels are with RFT, 22” OEM summer wheels are non-RFT.
