I'm having a nose around X drive estates at the moment - maybe £15Kish. I'm happy to entertain 6 pot petrol or diesel - most likely a 5 series but I could just about shrink to a 3.

The absolute deal breaker is that I do NOT want to be sat on leather. I don't mind bolsters being trimmed on it, but the butt needs to be on cloth or Alcantara. The vast majority of larger engine cars I look at appear to have leather, I guess as it's considered premium in this market. So far all i've managed to find is that 'SE' appear to have cloth seats.

Are there any other trims to look out for that might have non-leather seat options?

iirc leather was standard U.K. retail spec, if you find one with cloth seats it will be “authorities” spec which means an ex Police ( or other 999 service ) vehicle

Alcantara was a no cost option on the F31. Think LCI onwards so might be a push to get into a 330d at £15k? Not looked at prices for a while, but might be hard trying to find an X-Drive at that price.

You’re unlikely to find a modern UK BMW of decent spec without leather. The Japanese used to like non leather seats so an import may be an option.

Just buy what you want and then get the seats retrimmed.
