I've had this pop up on the idrive and have scanned the error memory but there don't appear to be any codes related to this error. Would the error codes not show up on INPA?

Any ideas what could be triggering this? many thanks in advance!

Not sure if this will help; but when I had a similar issue with an E65 (same era cars, same electrics, same niggles etc); all the advice pointed to the passenger seat sensor...

It wasn't that at all and after hours of digging around by my auto-sparky pal; turned out to be a sensor that's on the main red power cable connected to the battery...

The part plus his time was a £600 bill! eek

That does help, thank you. I saw some mentions of the battery cable sensor on some other forums so I guess it could be that.

I also noted that the idrive warning states if its related to one of the seats and the warning I have appears to be general.

I'm a little perplexed about the lack of error codes though. Surely an error like this would throw up some error codes?

Further to the above, I found an old forum post that explained how to find all the errors throughout the car. The reason I couldn't see any codes was due to me only running the report on the engine. Anyway, there were loads of errors in other bits of the car so I cleared them all and the restraint warning has gone...for now.

Let's see if it comes back.
