Fitting E39 cup holder...

A simple job I thought, replacing the front cup holder, two screws and job done. Not so apparently because I cannot remove the original cup holder from the dash. I've looked at all the YouTube experts and half of them simply slide out the old cup holder whilst the other half have had to dismantle half the dash. There must be a simple answer to this, guidance appreciated!

IT should just slide out...

Undo the 2 screws that you can see and pull from one side and then the other

If you're struggling, remove the switch pack above that which gives you more room; you can slide it out with your fingers from underneath FYI

That was what I expected it to do but try as I might it just will not. I've tried easing one end, then the other and parallel but it will only move about half an inch, there seems to be something holding it toward the centre. I'm not sure if there is enough room to slide my finger in to pull the switch panel above but will look at it again during the week. Thanks for your interest though, appreciated

If I can do it with my shovel like hands, you can too

It will pop out; it clips in, in certain places, so you just need to ease it out...
