Preemptively replacing valve seals on N62B48(E70 V8) engine?
Discussion
I'm in UK and this week I'm looking to buy a petrol V8 E70. I need to drive it across continental Europe come Christmas time, 2150 km (1300 miles) one way. I am well aware of the valve seal issue and I was thinking that maybe it's a good idea to just replace them before hand rather than risk the "white smoke" somewhere in the middle of nowhere? I got in touch with the guys at PMP Cars in Nuneaton and they said they had a slot next month, same day job for £948.
What are your thoughts? The car I'm looking to buy will have anywhere between 100-150K miles on it, so the way I understand it that's a valve seal ticking time bomb unless recently replaced? Also any advice you could give me about what to look at when buying the E70.

I've seen these with 150,000 miles and not smoking. What are your thoughts? If it's not smoking, save your grand and wait until it is, by which time you might be ready to offload it anyway.

Even if is smoking during the road trip in the middle of nowhere, doesn't really matter. It's not going to cause an epic fail and leave you stranded. Take an additional 1L oil container and don't stress too much imo. If however you buy the car and it's clear that the valve stem seals need doing, go for it.
