Am looking for a 440i - came across this Gran Coupe in frozen silver.

Am trying to get some background on the previous ownership - seller is in trade, but selling privately (hmmmm).

Seems like it used to be a CAR magazine long term review:

Anyone come across it or know it?

Ex BMW Press car being sold from a grubby lock up in Birmingham by a dealer trying to get out of their legal obligations by masquerading as a private seller

What could possibly go wrong ?

My thoughts exactly ha! Seems a shame as it is lovely spec.

My bet would be on crash damaged

Bumper scuff, pass front and rear door damage (dents), rear bumper scuff, rear valance crease. I don't imagine paint is easily do able on that therefore you'll pay more and will it ever truly match ?

Wheels can be refurbed but being diamond cut there is extra cost to this also.

Could say all of the above is why it's priced where it is though.

Yeah - no idea how much/how easy frozen paintwork is to match. Might mean it's less likely to have been crash damaged (i.e. doesn't make sense for there still to be damage).

Seems like they have either got rid of the piano black trim or wrapped it with silly carbon fibre inserts

Don’t get me wrong I have nothing against Press fleet cars, in fact I bought one .. from Rybrook BMW a with less than 4K on the clock and 9 months old

The spec on it was immense and it had been featured in magazine group tests

In the four years and 40k miles I had it it was faultless

But this one is a bit smelly tbf

Just such a shame given the spec is decent. Oh well

Lovely car but not sure I could live with the colour of those seats/interior.

lol - seems it has been sold on to a dealer who wants another £10k over what it was listed for!

Came across this post as I’d seen it advertised recently - turns out the car was damaged but also issues with differential and was disposed of at trade - dodged a bullet whoever was interested in this!

I fancied a 440i with a "frozen" finish if one happened to be available, as it looks stunning, however, I after some Googling I established that it's a complete pain to try to match if a panel needs paintwork. It's not so much the colour as the finish that seems to be the issue. I just wouldn't go there.

100% - beautiful when pristine but very difficult to get the “frozen” effect after damage.. but they do look beautiful
