Hi, this is the first bmw I have bought. 118i F40, an approved used one from a main dealer. I got it a month ago. Since then, I check the mybmw app every now and then. One thing I noticed today is that the recommended engine oil service mileage changed in the app. It was 19001 mile or 2024 before, but today it became 18001 mile or 2024. I got the car with the mileage ~17900 and now it is 18300. I am not sure whether it is because the weather is getting cold, or anything else is wrong. Or this recommended mileage is the distance I run, rather than the total mileage?

It's usually a countdown of miles remaining until you need the service.

The harder you drive it, the quicker it will come down.

The instrument cluster will show:
Both the estimated service date (month and year) and the mileage TO BE TRAVELLED until the next service.
It will show this as you switch on after getting in.
As said, it may change depending how you driving style changes as you continue.

Thanks both. It makes sense as a countdown of mileage to run before next service.

It's not a true count down of mileage, It's conditional based servicing so you may not get 19k miles before needing a other service.
For example our Clubman JCW is due its first service this month, it's showing service due 11/2022 or in 1k miles even though it's only on 12k miles.
